“The reëlection of Barack Obama is a matter of great urgency.”

To me, really, this has been the theme of Obama’s presidency. Obama strove to eliminate the national complacency toward issues like education, health care, obesity, and LGBTQ rights, among many others. He made these issues urgent: if no one else was going to fix them, then he was. I certainly think he’s at least been moving us in the right direction.

And although he’s done a lot in his four years as president, I think a second term will allow Obama to continue his active policy of holding everyone accountable for the state of our nation and making it better, as vague as that may sound. He’s holding us to higher standards and higher ideals.  

I stand for President Obama because he stands for me.

Elections are coming up in a few short months. I would like to re-affirm my support for President Obama, especially after his recent actions. I think you all should do the same.

America—its women, its LGBTQ community, its students, its workers, its elderly, its most vulnerable and disenfranchised—cannot afford for Obama to lose this upcoming election. Can we reinvigorate the young, positive, activist attitudes we had in 2008?
