EARLY VOTING has been starting in some states, so I wanted to re-share this image to GET OUT THE VOTE.

Read this article from The New Yorker for inspiration.

“The reëlection of Barack Obama is a matter of great urgency.”
-
To me, really, this has been the theme of Obama’s presidency. Obama strove to eliminate the national complacency toward issues like education, health care, obesity, and LGBTQ rights, among many others. He made these issues urgent: if no one else was going to fix them, then he was. I certainly think he’s at least been moving us in the right direction.
-
And although he’s done a lot in his four years as president, I think a second term will allow Obama to continue his active policy of holding everyone accountable for the state of our nation and making it better, as vague as that may sound. He’s holding us to higher standards and higher ideals.

I stand for President Obama because he stands for me.

Elections are coming up in a few short months. I would like to re-affirm my support for President Obama, especially after his recent actions. I think you all should do the same.
-
America—its women, its LGBTQ community, its students, its workers, its elderly, its most vulnerable and disenfranchised—cannot afford for Obama to lose this upcoming election. Can we reinvigorate the young, positive, activist attitudes we had in 2008?

After disappointment in North Carolina’s recent actions, President Obama has said that he personally believes that same-sex couples should be able to get married under United States law. I would not call this declaration an act of bravery, however; being a decent human and standing up for equal rights should not have to be rewarded with high praise. It should be expected.
-
Either way, I think this development is a reason to celebrate and to reaffirm my support for President Obama in the upcoming elections. I think you should all do the same.

In light of recent events in North Carolina, sharing these sentiments with everyone I know seems particularly important. One more state has confirmed the definition of marriage as a union only between a man and a woman. One more state has denied a whole portion of American citizens civil rights and equality under the law.
-
Marriage under the law, rather, should be more generally defined as a union between two people who are deeply committed to each other. Love should know no boundaries. Laws in the United States should be gender-blind.
-
President Barack Obama stands for same sex marriage. Do you?

All kinds of couples should be able to marry under U.S. law, and these couples should be provided with benefits equal to those that heterosexual couple currently have. Love is love, and commitment is commitment.
(I believe this post represents more people than my last one!)

There is nothing more beautifully elegant than pure science.

I believe in science, and I will fight for it.
-
The U.S. Congress does not understand the importance of science in making legislation. It is our duty to make sure they recognize its importance, and to let them know when they are ignoring science.

U.S. health care costs far exceed those of other nations, relative to the size of the economy or GDP. Despite the huge amount of money spent on health care here, the U.S. also has poorer health outcomes than do other developed nations.
-
Clearly, the U.S. is doing something wrong. Changes must be made before the nation faces a health care crisis. Otherwise, we will only be able to do too little, too late.
-
If the United States were to follow in the footsteps of other developed countries, a nationalized single-payer health care system would produce better health outcomes at a lower cost for Americans. The poorest and most disenfranchised among us would be able to seek medical care they may desperately need. And although more people would be able to get medical care, we would still be paying less for health care than we currently pay.
